Methow Seasons

Image
In putting this book together we've come to realize it is not so much a document of a house being built, but a testament to what happened, and out of loss, the good that we were blessed with.  This narrative is for our children and their families, so that in years to come they know, and can retell the story behind Balsam Hill House.   It is also a tribute to those who sacrificed for our benefit during the fire, and is a reminder daily to pay that gift forward.     In closing, we hope these final pictures, in some small way, give a sense to the beauty that surrounds us.  We hope you see now that our story really isn't just our story.  It is more.  Ours is a story woven into a greater narrative, that is community and the special people that call the Methow Valley home.

new memories

More than a new home, Balsam Hill House is a place to remember past memories and make new ones.   It is about sharing a special place with family and friends, and to introduce this unique valley to those that have never been to the Methow.  It would be hard not to enjoy this special place, but all the better to have a home that expresses so much care to detail in the design, planning, and construction that is part of our new home.  For our family, Balsam Hill House is a place to remember past memories and make new ones.   It is about sharing a special place with family and friends,  introducing this unique valley to those that have never been to the Methow.  It would be hard not to enjoy our time here, but all the better to have a home that expresses so much care to detail in the design, planning, and construction that is part of Balsam Hill House. ...

House Party

Time to celebrate!   October 2017 marked the end of construction.  Everyone enjoyed a house party to share, say thanks, and enjoy our new home with Jay, Tim Smith and the crew from Big Valley Builders and their families, and our neighbors and friends.  We have enjoyed many small and a few large gatherings since finishing the house.   Over time, whether just the two of us, or with a group, we have appreciated that everything we had hoped for in this build was accomplished.
